RCIA Renewing the Parish - La Crosse

Ends: June 2, 2018 - 4:30 pm
Location: Holy Cross Diocesan Center, 3710 East Ave, S., La Crosse, WI
Description: RCIA Conference, June 2

Do you find it difficult to incorporate the RCIA’s many rites?
Are the RCIA’s teachings leading to commitment to Christ?
Is it a challenge to find supportive team members?

If you have struggled with any of these aspects of RCIA, then this Conference is for you.

The RCIA process is the Church’s privileged place to form new Catholics in their relationship with Christ and his Church. As the Diocese of La Crosse celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2018, we look ahead to what is the best way to continue fostering faith and conversion. Featuring Dr. Petroc Willey and Bill Keimig from the Catechetical Institute, Franciscan University of Steubenville, “RCIA: Renewing the Parish,” will help any RCIA process form disciples in the years to come. Tracks for both experienced coordinators and programs, as well as new and newly-forming programs, will be offered. The conference will be held June 2, 2018, at the Holy Cross Diocesan Center, La Crosse. Beyond Sit, Stand, Kneel: Encountering God
Keynote Speaker will be Dr. James Pauley. James is deeply concerned about the widespread decline in the number of people receiving the Sacraments in the Church. He feels the call to help turn the tide so strongly that he even authored a helpful new book on the topic. He has a passion for communicating the deep roots and meaning of the Mass, especially to those who are indifferent and unengaged, so that it can be a transformative encounter with God. Dr. Pauley has worked as a parish catechetical leader as well as at the diocesan and university level for more than twenty-five years and he currently serves as a Professor of Theology and Catechetics at Franciscan University. He is a frequent speaker in dioceses and parishes nationwide. James is married to Katrina and they are blessed with three beautiful daughters.

Atheist becomes Catholic
Featured speaker will be Dr. Holly Ordway, author of “Not God’s Type” as she relates her transformation from a secular-minded English professor and antagonistic atheist to a devout Catholic. Holly’s fencing coach was very instrumental in her conversion by living in a way that surprise her into asking questions and having simple conversations about the realities of Jesus our Savior.

A brochure and webpage will be available soon with more information.
