POSITION: Director of Faith Formation and Youth Evangelization Ministry (DRE)

REPORTS TO: Pastor (and is supported by the parish staff)

STATUS: Full-time position – 40 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinator of grades 6-10 Faith Formation and Youth Evangelization Ministry who will have a heart for sharing the “Good News” and helping people grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and His Church. The DRE will build and administer a total catechetical and youth evangelization ministry program by bringing greater uniformity to the Program in the parish; form and prepare students and their parents for the Sacraments of Confirmation and assist the parish community in developing a solid foundation for adult spirituality, Christian living, and outreach.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Faith Formation
– Oversee the Faith Formation Program in collaboration with CRE of grades Pre-K-5
– Recruit, train, support, and evaluate volunteer catechists grades 6-9 in the Faith Formation Program
– Communicate with parents and build a working relationship with families
– Oversee Sacramental prep for confirmation
– Review, select, and order textbooks, other suitable materials, and supplies
– Coordinate RCIA and RCIC
– Coordinate Safe Environment
– Prepare and oversee budget for Faith Formation
– Adult Bible Studies Coordinator

Youth Evangelization Ministry
– Promote youth evangelization event opportunities in the deanery, diocese, and beyond.
– Build a youth evangelization team
– Assists Pre-K- 5th grade CRE with Vacation Bible School
– Oversees Fundraising for youth programs
– 9-10th grade retreat coordinator
– Summer Adventure Camp Coordinator

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:
– A person with a heart for evangelization, youth ministry, and faith formation
– A committed prayer life, both personally and within a parish community
– Bachelor’s degree in theology or equivalent preferred from an accredited college or university
– Experience working in Catholic education, catechesis, and/or youth ministry
– Knowledgeable of Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Catholic teaching
– Ability to organize, prioritize, manage multiple priorities, and work with minimal supervision
– Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership and mentoring skills
– Advanced Certification in the Diocese of La Crosse (or committed to attaining it promptly after hire)
– Familiarity and conformity with the guidelines and policies of the Diocese of La Crosse
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in public speaking preferred
– Lives in full sacramental communion with the Catholic Church and fidelity to Church teaching
