These words, extracted from Meditations and Devotions of St. John Henry Newman, the October, 2109 canonized patron saint of Newman Catholic Schools (NCS), describes an enduring quality we seek in our next President for the 2020-2021 school year.

Our academically rigorous Catholic institution is supported faithfully by:

  • 11 Catholic parishes and their pastors in Wausau and the greater metro area
  • 350 families who choose Newman Catholic Schools as their educational destination for their children. Many of these parents (and grandparents) are Newman alumni.
  • Alumni who reside within the greater Wausau area as well as those who reside in communities throughout the nation.

Catholic education has been alive and well in the Wausau area for over 100 years. Over the course of time, Newman Catholic High School, established in 1955, has consolidated and unified Catholic education (circa 1980’s) that has resulted in the formation of Newman Catholic Schools, in 2004.

We are an Early Childhood Learning Center through grade 12 Catholic school system with an enrollment of 670 students.  Our academic rigor has produced graduates with a five-year average ACT score of 24. Upon graduation, these students have matriculated to public and private colleges and service academies throughout the United States. Our students are supported in their spiritual and educational growth by dedicated teachers who average 16 years of experience in the classroom.

Our 4K through grade 12 is accredited by Cognia, inc. (formerly AdvancED) since 2011. Our two Early Childhood Centers are accredited, since 2015, through Youngstar, a State of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families agency.

Newman Catholic schools is putting the finishing touches on a five-year strategic plan that provides a pathway to more advantageous positioning that will leverage our strengths and will improve system-wide efficiency and cohesiveness.

We offer a variety of student co-curricular organizations and interscholastic sports that reflect our commitment to excellence.

Our next President will be a practicing Catholic, actively receiving the sacraments. We desire a dynamic individual who is experienced in, or willing to experience and grow by, partnering with our Advancement Director and staff. We seek a leader who is a clear communicator and collaborator. We desire a leader who holds in high esteem establishing and maintaining professional relationships with our many internal and external publics.

We seek a supporter of the educational process, both from the learning and instructional perspective. The successful candidate recognizes the importance of collegial relationships that foster open dialogue and vision-sharing that enhances and broadens the pursuit of knowledge, understanding and spiritual awakening.

Background in Catholic school system administration and/or non-profit organizational leadership is desirable. The ideal candidate will have institutional Advancement and financial experience and the ability to oversee the implementation of strategic planning initiatives.

The salary range for this 12 month position is $70,000 – $90,000, commensurate with experience. We offer health, dental and life insurance benefits, as well as a 403b retirement plan.

Newman Catholic Schools is located in the communities of Wausau (the county seat of Marathon county), Rothschild and Schofield. The Wausau area provides easy access to many options of year-round outdoor activities for the natural enthusiast; a downtown area that caters to the traditional and unique shopper. Supporting the cultural arts, Wausau is home to the Lee Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, The Grand Theatre and the Center for Visual Arts among other artistic pursuits.
