Thank you for donating to Catholic Relief Services through your Rice Bowl collections. Together we raised over $21,000 to help our international relief efforts. What started as a way for Catholics in the United States to respond to the famine in Africa in 1976 has evolved into a Lenten tradition bringing us closer together as one church and one human family.
Seventy-five percent of the alms given through CRS Rice Bowl will go to Catholic Relief Services to support humanitarian aid projects that bring vital hope and live-saving aid to the poorest of the poor overseas.
Twenty-five percent of CRS Rice Bowl donations will stay here in our diocese to help fund Project Seed.
Do you have rice bowls left over from previous years?
Do NOT throw them out!
Consider using them for collecting donations during Halloween! Invite students to go trick or treating, and instead of begging for candy and treats, ask for some spare change to help people living in poverty all around the world. Then just remit your collections to the Diocese of La Crosse, Office for Ministries and Social Concerns!
Also, check out the educational and parish resources available on the CRS Rice Bowl webpage.
Thank you for making these sacrifices that lift up our brothers and sisters living in poverty. With a shared spirit of solidarity, we can continue to bring Christ’s light of hope to the world.
