HEAD COOK/SUPERVISOR OF FOOD SERVICES JOB DESCRIPTION

  • As Supervisor of the Food Services Program, completes all required National School Lunch Program reports.   
  • Orders supplies and maintains records for food requisitions, and completes all DPI  records.
  • Checks food shipments into the school, signing invoices after each order has been verified. 
  • Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily according to a planned menu using tested and uniform recipes. 
  • Serves the proper serving sizes to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served per production sheets. 
  • Records all food requisitions from the storeroom, and records all meals served as required by state standards. 
  • Supervises, instructs, and assists kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment, as well as with food preparation, daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, and the washing/sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils according to DPI requirements. 
  • Maintains a neat and orderly kitchen with the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and security.
  • Oversees the locking of the storeroom, freezer, and refrigerator, and maintaining correct monthly inventory. 
  • Calls in orders of all necessary supplies to approved vendors. 
  • Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA]. 
  • Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA]. 
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
