As teachers, our challenge is to teach the richness of the Catholic faith in ways that both educate and engage kids at their level.   Catholic Social Teaching is a complex subject with many facets, but we have many tools to help us!   In April of this year, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has collaborated with Loyola Press to create two wonderful soft cover story books.  Drop by Drop and Green Street Park are both 2016 International Book Award Winners for Children’s Fiction.

“These beautifully illustrated books are a true treasure for parents as well as all educators in teaching children how they, as the followers of Jesus, can solve problems affecting human life and dignity in our backyards and half a world away,” said Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento, California, chairman of the USCCB Subcommittee on domestic anti-poverty.

These books are geared toward elementary school children and they have lesson plans and blackline masters that are freely downloadable!   Go to the Loyola Press site below for these resources.  Green Street Park is great for grades 4K to 1 and Drop by Drop is for grades 2 through 4.
