Part-Time Coordinator of Religious Education/Youth Ministry
St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish, West Salem, WI
Primary Function: The Coordinator of Religious Education and Youth Ministry assists the Pastor with developing and coordinating all parish catechetical programs for adults and students. This includes curriculum planning, volunteer recruitment and event planning. The position reports to the Pastor. 20-30 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing and faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of Catholic theology, doctrine, and practices and rooted in the teachings of the Second Vatican Council.
- Excellent communication, leadership and collaborative skills.
- Ability to mentor and encourage catechists, adult learners, and students at all catechetical levels.
- Computer knowledge of Excel, Word, and ParishSoft.
- Flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Previous religious education training and experience preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach weekly Wednesday Confirmation classes and oversee Sunday morning religious education classes.
- Implement Sacramental Preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
- Identify and recruit potential Catechist volunteers and train and supervise Catechetical instructional staff.
- Select appropriate curricula for Catechetical programs.
- Establish and maintain a youth ministry program for middle and high school students.
- Plan, execute and oversee youth camps, Bible studies, retreats and a mission trip.
- Analyze revenue and program cost data to determine budget priorities.
- Select, coordinate and implement the annual Summer Vacation Bible School.
- Maintain safe environment records for employees and volunteers.
- Attend Diocesan required trainings.
