Public Relations and Missionary Educator
Reports to the Rector, or as delegated to the Parish Mission Associate
Basic Functions: This position helps promote the spiritual work of Cathedral Parish through marketing, advertising, and building relationships with the Parish and greater Community by taking pictures and videos, writing content for parish events and posting them on our social media; Publicizing all major events including special Masses, Feast days and devotions on social media; Continue to build and grow the parish with a focus on the young adults by creating and cultivating relationships, hosting bible studies and modeling discipleship. Oversee all religious education, including sacramental prep for Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion. Mentor, teach, and help form all students in the religious education program and those students preparing to receive sacraments. Participate in the OCIA program.
Main Responsibilities:
- Takes pictures of all significant events and posts on social media
- Updates content on social media and website
- Writes and communicates Cathedral’s story to parishioners and non-parishioners alike
- Records videos and posts to media
- Continues to grow the Cathedral Community young adult group
- Evangelizes and disciples within the Cathedral Community, especially among lapsed Catholics
- Oversees religious education program including sacramental prep for Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
- Mentors, teaches and helps form all students in the religious education program.
- Participates in the OCIA program.
Education and Skills:
- Degree in Theology or equivalent
- Proficient in marketing and advertising
- Outside the box thinker
- Self-motivator
- Works independently
- Understands and lives mission, discipleship, and evangelization
- Good communication and written skills
- In good standing with the Catholic Church and actively practices the faith
- Has a good understanding and ability to use social media, excel, and word
