To this National Eucharistic Pilgrimage stop in the Diocese of La Crosse. We gather in Jesus’ name, as His body, manifesting the Church of Christ by our
very gathering, that all the world might come to know God’s invitation to come and follow, to taste and see.
Like the disciples during the difficult time following Jesus’ crucifixion, we encounter a stranger who opens our eyes to the wonder of God’s plan. We then come to recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread and in His Eucharistic splendor. The Second Vatican Council Fathers wrote that the Eucharist is not just a part of the Christian life but the very source and summit. The Eucharist is the source from which resurrected life flows; it is the object to which all life,
uncorrupted by sin, tends.
As we adore Jesus in this Most Blessed Sacrament of the altar, we seek to be conformed to Christ. We know that by dying to ourselves in imitation of Jesus
and rising with him, we embrace the new and transformational pattern Christ established. In Him, through Him and with Him, we become a living thanksgiving to God, a eucharistic man or woman, fully participating in the mystery of Christ.
Let us brothers and sisters, adore him, asking for the grace for ourselves and our nation, to become a people of thanksgiving, a eucharistic people, caught up in the love of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
May Jesus, who is Love itself, embrace you and share His Sacred and Eucharistic Heart with you. May you receive Him, adore Him, and allow Him to send you on mission as His ambassadors and witnesses.
